What is CBG? Stem Cell of the plant or mother cannabinoid?
Abstract For Cannabigerol, CBG is a cannabinoid often neglected but extremely important. In fact, it is the source needed to produce most of the effects of cannabis and hemp. It is a precursor of CBD, THC and several other cannabinoids. During plant growth, CBG is converted by enzymes into the plant into other cannabinoids, which is why it is usually present in small amounts once the hemp is ready for harvest.
This means that we owe a lot to CBG because it is responsible for CBD training! This precursor function is not the only one of CBG.
THE DIRECT EFFECTS OF CBG
CBG, like most cannabinoids, causes various effects on the body when ingested. As CBG is not currently receiving much attention in the scientific community, fewer studies on its effects have been conducted in comparison to the CBD. However, the small amount of pre-clinical studies conducted show positive results.
One of the most profound effects of CBG is to inhibit the reuptake of GABA, a chemical compound in the brain as explained by Dr. Bonni Goldstein, Medical Director at Canna-Centers.
“When [the recapture of] GABA is inhibited, you have muscle relaxation and anti-anxiety effects, so it appears to favor effects similar to those of CBD. It also appears to have anti-depressive properties and anti-fungal properties. ”
The research also found that CBG had anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties during a study in Italy and have discovered that it displayed these properties in a model of Irritable Bowel Disease.
RESEARCH
It has also been discovered that CBG inhibits COX-2, implying that it might be an alternative to current non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which have the same functions, but with bad side effects.
